I Believe …
David A. Cooper – May 2005 (update is highlighted)
That God exists as three distinct, equal and unified beings and personalities, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
That God, existing as three persons, is infinitely and eternally worthy of our worship, praise, thanksgiving, love, trust, faith, and fear.
In the sovereignty of God the Creator over all the universe.
In the necessity of confession to God of our own sins, in the acknowledgement to God of our own realization that we are by nature sinners, and in the daily repentance through the power of the Holy Spirit of our own sinful thoughts, attitudes, habits, and behaviors.
In the forgiveness of sins and the deliverance from sin by the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ through His blood by His crucifixion.
In the sufficiency and efficiency of Jesus’ death and resurrection for the redemption of all mankind.
In the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ securing victory over death, evil, and sin.
In the urgency of believer’s baptism, not as a condition of salvation but as an expression of obedience and surrender to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
In the assertion that if Jesus Christ is not Lord of your life He is not yet Savior of your soul.
That there is only one Body of Christ.
In the unity of the universal church; the body of Christ adhering to and submitting, without compromise, to the truth of scripture under the headship Jesus Christ.
That our worship of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit is to be exclusive, passionate, continuous, and pure.
In the immediate and unashamed confession of every follower of Jesus of their love for and allegiance to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
In the power of sincere prayer offered by the pure in heart in the name of Jesus Christ.
In the demonstration of love through obedience to Jesus Christ’s commands – love people, not things.
In the Bible as God’s personal revelation to humanity.
That the Bible is inerrant in its original writing and is the infallible Word of God; the Bible can be fully trusted for daily study and used as absolute truth.
In the imminent return of Jesus Christ to claim His own and to judge the world.
In the glory of eternal life with God for the believer and the torment of eternal separation from God for the unbeliever.
In the virgin birth of Jesus Christ in the town of Bethlehem as foretold by the Old Testament prophets.
That Jesus of Nazareth fulfilled all of the Old Testament prophecies concerning the promised Messiah.
That following Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord will, without question, change a person’s thoughts, attitudes, habits, and behaviors progressively into Christ-likeness.
In hope, and in faith, and in love grounded in Christ Jesus alone.
